Invoice Shorten to give up politics: Anthony Albanese set to make main announcement

Anthony Albanese is ready to announce Invoice Shorten’s retirement in a press convention being held at 11am at the moment.

Shorten led Labor to a slim loss on the 2016 election after which led Labor to an surprising defeat on the 2019 election, after which he introduced his resignation as chief, with Albanese being elected unopposed to exchange him. 

He has served because the member Victorian seat of Maribyrnong since 2007. Previous to being elected, he led the  Australian Employees’ Union.

Following Labor’s victory on the 2022 election, Shorten was appointed because the Minister for Authorities Providers and the Nationwide Incapacity Insurance coverage Scheme.
