PRICE — A former worker of a constitution college in Value has been arrested and accused of illegally taking funds from the varsity and including them to her personal paycheck.
Kalisa Lynn Fish, 51, was arrested Wednesday for investigation of misuse of public funds and theft.
Earlier this month, directors from the Pinnacle Canyon Academy, 210 N. 600 East in Value, went to police claiming Fish had stolen about $114,500 since 2020, in accordance with a police reserving affidavit. She was fired from the varsity on Could 15.
In line with the varsity, “there’s a ‘particular’ line on the payroll, (for) lecturers who’re after-school advisers or coaches.” the affidavit states. These individuals get more money of their paychecks.
Fish, who “dealt with the payroll and HR duties on the college,” has been including “particular” pay to her personal paycheck since 2020 although she “doesn’t have one other place with the varsity and shouldn’t be receiving any extra wages,” in accordance with the affidavit.
When confronted by college directors, Fish — who had been an worker for about 15 years — advised them “she began doing it as a result of she was in a monetary disaster, however then simply continued to maintain doing it,” the affidavit alleges. Her alleged actions began in 2020 when the varsity was shut down as a consequence of pandemic protocols.
After confronting Fish, the directors mentioned they obtained a name from Fish’s mom asking if they may “work one thing out” to pay the varsity again, the arrest report states.
“There isn’t a denial, or claims of a misunderstanding. Fairly, only a request to have the ability to pay again the varsity, which closely implies there are funds that have to be paid again,” the affidavit says.
