Drummer John Barbata has died at age 79.

Barbata performed for several legendary rock bands including Crosby, Stills, Nash & Younger and Jefferson Starship. He recorded the hit monitor Happy Collectively and She’d Somewhat Be with Me during his tenure with the iconic musical team the Turtles.  

His loss of life was confirmed by Rolling Stone. Greatest Common Bands reported he probable passed on May 8.

Barbata’s cause of demise remains unknown at this time.

His audio career saw Barbata join The Turtles in 1966 as a replacement for founding drummer Don Murray.

He turned immortalized in audio record soon thereafter, recording their strike music Content Together and She’d Relatively Be With Me, together with their subsequent 3 albums Happy Jointly, The Turtles Present the Battle of the Bands, and Turtle Soup.

Not extensive soon after the dissolution of The Turtles, Barbata joined Crosby, Stills, Nash & Younger and then Jefferson Airplane.

Jefferson Starship, a band that includes previous Jefferson Airplane members, followed. Barbata’s drumming techniques appeared in 4 LPs recorded by the band: Dragon Fly, Pink Octopus, Spitfire, and Earth, in accordance to Rolling Stone. 

Jefferson Starship compensated tribute to Barbata on Facebook, publishing on Monday: ‘We are saddened to hear of the passing of the great John Barbata, Jefferson Starship’s original drummer. Our ideas go out to his loved ones, mates and followers. Rock in peace, Johnny!’

Jefferson Plane posted to their Facebook: ‘Rest in Peace, John Barbata, a legendary drummer for Jefferson Plane and Jefferson Starship.

‘Known for his fantastic talent, John left his mark on the new music planet by taking part in with bands these types of as The Turtles, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Younger, Jefferson Airplane, and Jefferson Starship. Again in ’72, throughout a hiatus for CSN&Y, David Crosby released John to the Airplane, who hired John instantaneously. 

‘You can hear John’s drumming competencies on the band’s ultimate studio album, Very long JOHN SILVER, as perfectly as the live album 30 SECONDS Above WINTERLAND. Rest in Peace, John.’
