SLB Reveals A Reason That Leaves Actors Upset With Him, Netizens Bring Up Sharmin Segal’s Reference

Sanjay Leela Bhansali created magic with the biggest project, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The stellar performance of the star cast left everyone mesmerised. However, Heeramandi also received a lot of flak for several reasons, first with its inaccuracy with history, second with the glorification of tawaifs‘ lives, and last but not the least with SLB casting his niece, Sharmin Segal, in the series who failed to impress the audience. Although, SLB and Sharmin paid no attention to the trolls, in a recent interview, the director shared a reason that left the actors upset with him. Now, netizens have reacted to the same by bringing up Sharmin’s reference.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali shares why actors often get upset with him

Sanjay Leela Bhansali recently sat for an interview with Galatta Plus, wherein he stated one reason that leaves the actors upset with him. The prolific filmmaker added that he has worked with a lot of talented actors, including Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra, among others, and each of these actors is his favourite.

Sanjay said that now that he shared the screen with Richa Chadha and Sonakshi Sinha, he feels that he shares a good equation with everyone. He also added that he often feels that the actors often get upset with him for not being repeated. Sanjay Leela Bhansali mentioned:

“I feel that I have a great equation with each one. I sometimes feel that when I don’t repeat them, they get upset about it.” They say, ‘we gave so much to Sanjay for this Film, why not this one?’ But I feel sometimes the casting is very organic, it has to come from deep within.”

In the same interview, Sanjay Leela Bhansali mentioned that the casting appeared to be very organic to him and that it came from deep within. The filmmaker mentioned that he is not here to build any kind of relationship, and he respects everyone for the kind of work they do. Sanjay Leela Bhansali further showered the actors with love and appreciated them for the kind of work they had done with him. Sharing how 90 per cent of the actors give their best to him, SLB said:

“90% of them have created magic on the screen. It is because of the love and respect for each other. So, they give me their best.”

Netizens urge Sanjay Leela Bhansali not to cast his niece, Sharmin Segal again

As soon as the video of Sanjay Leela Bhansali was dropped on the discussion platform, Reddit, netizens rushed to the comment section to penning down their opinions. Reacting to the video, internet users asked Sanjay Leela Bhansali not to cast Sharmin yet again. Others shared that SLB just ruined her tag as a perfectionist by casting Sharmin as she didn’t bring justice to her character. On the other hand, some users wrote that SLB is giving himself importance and not others. Meanwhile, some users thought it was a jibe at Ranveer Singh.

In an interview, Sharmin Segal was asked if she had any leeway to work with her uncle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali. To this, Richa Chadha mentioned that SLB was harsh with Sharmin. The actress, too, shared that on the sets, SLB treated her like others.
