Esha Deol Says Karan Was Shocked When She Wore A ‘Salwar Kurta’ On ‘KWK’ For A Reason, ‘Maybe Dad..’

Esha Deol is one of the much-loved actresses in the Hindi film industry of her time. Dharmendra and Hema Malini’s daughter, Esha made her Bollywood debut with the movie, Mere Dil Se Poochhe back in 2002. Right from the beginning of her career, Esha has been winning hearts with her incomparable acting skills, charming personality, gorgeousness, and more. Recently, in an interview, Esha walked down memory lane and recalled the time when she appeared on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan. The actress revealed KJo’s reaction to her outfit on his show and also shared why she opted for that particular dress.

It was back in 2005 when Esha Deol first appeared on Karan Johar’s show, Koffee With Karan, along with Shahid Kapoor. For the day, the actress donned a white-hued embellished salwar suit. A soft touch of makeup and open hair added stars to her look.

However, in a recent interview with India Today, Esha shared that Karan Johar was shocked after seeing her in a salwar suit on his show. Sharing why she opted for a salwar suit, Esha revealed that she was quite sure that her dad, Dharmendra might watch the episode, so she thought it would be the best to dress well. Esha can be quoted as saying:

“I have to go back and watch that interview because I don’t really remember what I said. I remember it being a fun, spontaneous interview and the main thing I remember is also that I wore a salwar-kurta and Karan was like (shows amused expression) and I was like, ‘Maybe dad watches this, I better be well dressed’. So I made Rocky make a salwar-kurta for me.”

When Hema Malini revealed that Dharmendra never wanted Esha to do films

During the second season of Koffee With Karan, Hema Malini appeared on the show. On the show, the host, Karan Johar asked the actress if Dharmendra ever gave any advice to Esha in terms of her career. To this, Hema Malini revealed that Dharmendra never wanted Esha to do films. The legendary actress shared that Esha took her decision and as a mom the former had to be with her daughter and support her.

Speaking along the same lines, Hema Malini mentioned that after learning that her father didn’t want her to join the film industry, Esha raised a point after which Dharmendra had no answer, hence, their daughter started working in films. Esha asked Dharmendra if everyone in their family including her parents and brothers could do films then why she could not.

Esha Deol’s personal life

Since the last couple of months, Esha Deol’s personal life has been a topic of discussion. For the unversed, Esha got married to the love of her life, Bharat Takhtani, back in 2012, and they are parents to their two daughters, Radhya and Miraya. However, it was back in February 2024, when Esha and Bharat had confirmed their separation from one another.

As per a report by the Delhi Times, the couple had issued a statement, wherein they had mentioned that they parted ways on an amicable note. The alleged estranged couple also asked for their fans to respect their privacy, thereby stating that their daughters and their well-being would be their utmost priority.
