Kareena Kapoor Accused Of Lying As She Claims Son, Taimur’s Name Was Kept After Saif’s Best Friend

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan were trolled brutally when they announced that they had kept their firstborn son’s name, Taimur. The internet bashed the couple for keeping their baby’s name after a Mughal emperor. There were protests all over India. However, a few years later, Kareena, during a media interaction, revealed that her son, Taimur’s name, was kept after her husband, Saif’s first best friend. While the story looked emotional, netizens found an old video of Kareena admitting how Saif had kept the name of his first son after the Mughal emperor.

Recently, a netizen took to the discussion platform Reddit and shared an unseen video of Kareena, who revealed the reason behind keeping her son’s name, Taimur. The video started with the interviewer asking who picked the name of their son. To which Kareena stated that, obliviously, it was her husband, Saif, as he was fond of history and the warriors he liked. She added that Saif was a fan of Mongol Taimur, and as a child, he read about it. She was quoted as saying:

“It’s got to be Saif obliviously. He loves history, and very articulate about the warriors he likes. He reads about them and I think he was a fan of the Mongol, Taimur. Yeah he was a fan, and as a child he read a lot about him.”

However, the video further showed Kareena’s interview, where she revealed that it means ‘iron’. She claimed that Saif kept their son’s name, Taimur, as it belonged to his first childhood best friend. She also added that it had no connection with the Mughal emperor. She said: 

“When we came up with the name… Saif actually said… He grew up with a neighbour friend, and he always really liked his name and his name was Taimur, so he said, ‘You know, if I have a son, he was my first friend. I’d like to name him Taimur’, and that’s exactly how Taimur was named, because he was Saif’s first friend when he was living in town here.”

As soon as the video was uploaded, netizens flooded the comments section with their opinions. One user called Kareena a liar, while others pointed out her poor memory. One netizen wrote, “Can’t she even remember as a mom why she actually named her son that? Should be something of a memory right?” Another commented, “All Saif would have done was googled Mughal Kings who ruled India and must have liked Taimur name. I don’t believe at all that he is such a historian and read so much.”
