Masters Of The Universe movie casts Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man… after he starred with Anne Hathaway in the hit film The Idea Of You

Nicholas Galitzine has been cast as Price Adam of Eternia, better known as He-Man, in the upcoming Masters of the Universe film.

The news about the 29-year-old actor – who recently spoke about being described as a ‘babygirl’ – was revealed on Wednesday, when it was announced that the film would be directed by Travis Knight and written by Chris Butler.

Plot details about the upcoming fantasy-action feature are currently being kept under wraps.

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film production and development, Julie Rapaport, issued a statement to show her enthusiasm for the actor’s casting.

She stated via Deadline: ‘We’re thrilled to bring the beloved He-Man to life and couldn’t be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man.’

This comes after Nicholas starred in the hit movie The Idea Of You opposite Anne Hathaway. 

Rapaport added: ‘This reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia.’

Years ago there was talk Noah Centino would land the role, but he denied it. 

Mattel Films’ President, Robbie Brenner, also shared a message to describe the star of The Idea Of You as both ‘charismatic and talented.’ 

Masters Of The Universe is currently scheduled to make its debut in theaters on June 5, 2026. 

The movie will be based on the media franchise of the same name, which kicked off with the 1982 release of a toy line.

The line was followed up by an animated series entitled He-Man And The Masters of the Universe, which premiered in 1983.

The program ran for a total of two seasons, which were comprised of a total of 130 episodes, and its finale aired in 1985.

The show was then adapted into a film, entitled Masters of the Universe, which debuted in 1987.

The feature, which starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor, proved to be a commercial and critical failure upon its release.

Performers such as Courteney Cox, Brian Livingston and James Tolkan filled out the cast of the film. 

He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe has been followed up by a trio of shows, and the Kevin Smith-created Masters of the Universe: Revolution premiered on Netflix this past January.

The franchise has also been the basis for various spinoffs, several of which have been focused on He-Man’s sister and female counterpart, She-Ra.

Numerous video games and comic book series centered on the characters from the Masters Of The Universe franchise have also been released over the years.
