Tagged as the handsome hunk of Bollywood in the 90s, Bobby Deol made girls go weak with his charming looks. In 1995, Bobby made his acting debut in the film, Barsaat opposite Twinkle Khanna. Barsaat was followed by films like Gupt, Soldier, Badal, and Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, and soon, Bobby gained huge popularity.
While girls were drooling over Bobby’s handsome looks, he lost his heart to the gorgeous Tanya Ahuja. The couple walked down the aisle in a dreamy wedding in 1996. After six years of married life, the duo welcomed their first baby, Aryaman, in 2002 and their second son, Dharam, in 2004.

Not many people know this, but Bobby’s wife, Tanya is the daughter of multi-millionaire banker, late Devendra Ahuja. Born into a nuclear business family, it was a completely new setup for Tanya when she got married to Bobby. However, she gelled well with the Deols and soon became a core part of the family.

When Tanya got married to Bobby, she was welcomed into the family with open arms. In a throwback interview with ace designers, Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Tanya revealed that her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Parkash Kaur and Dharmendra, treated her more like a daughter and not as a daughter-in-law.

Amid her in-laws, Tanya developed a warm bond with her sister-in-law and Sunny Deol’s wife, Pooja Deol. Since Sunny and Bobby lived in a joint family, Tanya shared the household chores with her jethani, Pooja. Going further in the interview, she revealed that she and Pooja like splitting the entire household duty month-wise so that no one person is overburdened about the same. In her words:
“We take it one month at a time. Its just easier that way.”

Bobby Deol and Tanya Ahuja’s love story
Bobby laid his eyes on Tanya at the Italian cafe, Trattoria in Hotel President. She was there with her brother and their friends, and Bobby, too, had a few acquaintances from Tanya’s group. After the first meeting, Bobby and Tanya kept bumping into each other. It was love at first sight for Bobby, and he decided to chase her. Recalling a funny incident from their love story, Tanya once revealed:
“I went to play cards during the Diwali season at Chunky’s (Panday) house, and Bobby came and he sat with me and we played cards at the same table. He kept losing to me, but he wouldn’t pay me, he kept saying he’d take me out for a meal. I was like ‘what’s wrong with this guy?”
She further revealed that Bobby had called her at an absurd hour of the night, and since she was fast asleep, she didn’t entertain his call. On the next day, Tania had called all her friends but didn’t get any idea, who had called her. However, on the other side, Bobby had thought her to be a ‘snooty girl’ for ignoring his call. But as destiny would have it, when Bobby called her again at a normal hour, they had ended up talking for seven hours.

Bobby Deol’s marriage with Tanya Ahuja
The madly in love couple got married on May 30, 1996, in a traditional ceremony hosted by their parents. The grand wedding saw about eight to ten thousand guests. For their wedding, Tanya opted for a classic red and gold-hued lehenga from Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla’s collection. Bobby looked handsome in a white sherwani.

Tanya Deol is the daughter of a multi-millionaire banker, late Devendra Ahuja, who was the promoter of Centurion Bank and was also the MD of 20th Century Finance Company. In June 2010, Devendra Ahuja, through a public notice in newspapers had disowned his only son, Vikram Ahuja and had taken his name out of all his properties and businesses. It is alleged that Devendra Ahuja had apparently given his entire Rs 300 crore property to his daughter, Tanya.
