Bridesmaids reunion! Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig recall filming sex scenes together for iconic movie as they team up for Variety’s Actors on Actors

Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig recalled filming their hilarious sex scenes for Bridesmaids as they reunited for Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

The duo described playing a casually-involved couple in the hit 2011 film and how director Paul Feig shouted ‘sex instructions’ at them.  

The Palm Royale star, 50, had fond memories of sharing the spotlight with Hamm: ‘It was so fun because it was so loose: “What if we do this? What if we try this?”‘ 

Hamm’s recollections involved Feig’s NSFW directions. 

‘And Paul Feig yelling sex instructions. “Put her leg over your shoulder!” “OK!” We’re in naked bodysuits. Dumb and fun. And you and Annie [Mumolo] made one of the best comedies of all time. And you got nominated for an Oscar,’ The Morning Show star, 53, said.

Their scenes were shot on the last day of filming, and Hamm described how they were having the time of their lives ‘goofing around’ during their bedroom scenes despite the crew anxious to leave.

‘Everybody knew each other, and I didn’t know anybody except for Paul [Feig] and you. So all of that stuff in the bed at the beginning of the movie? Everybody just wanted to leave. And we were goofing around,’ he said.

But according to Kristen, the crew were actually star-struck by the presence of the Mad Men star.

‘No, they were like, “Wow, Jon Hamm!” Are you kidding me? I disagree.’ Kristen said.

‘I definitely felt the last-day energy. And we could not keep it together remotely. It was the dumbest,’ he said.

That wasn’t the only time the duo had worked together, with Hamm also appearing multiple times on Saturday Night Live.

He even made a cameo for Kristen’s last episode of SNL back in 2012.

‘When they called and asked if I could do your SNL when you hosted for the fifth time — congratulations! — I was like, there’s never an answer that doesn’t rhyme with “Yeah,”‘ Hamm said of their time on the variety series together. 

‘Any time you say, “Come do anything,” I’ll do it. When you said, “Please be in Bridesmaids,” I was like, “Sure.” And you were like, “We haven’t written a part yet,”‘ he recalled.

Working on the fast-paced series involved a series of quick changes that forced the duo to quickly get comfortable with one another.  

Hamm remembered how they both were ‘naked’ as they did a quick change right next to one another.  

‘I hosted three times in two years and then never again,’ he began. ‘The fun part of SNL — one time I was hosting, and we both had quick changes next to each other. And you’re like, “Get ready,” and then we’re both naked. They’re literally tearing clothes off of you. You just have to go with it.’

Hamm previously revealed how he agreed to do Bridesmaids before a script had been written.

The actor was merely happy to work alongside his friends and knew the film was going to be ‘funny’ given the all-star cast.

‘I was uncredited in Bridesmaids ’cause I was like, yeah it’s my friend, of course I’ll do that. I did that movie before there was a part, before there was a script, I said “yes” to it,’ he said on Pop Culture Spotlight with Jessica Shaw back in 2022. 

‘Agents went, “Oh, well, s**t. How do we, you know, ask for money?” And I was like, “Don’t worry about it. Just let me let go have fun with friends.”

Describing how he joined Wiig’s film, he said they ‘got along’ during his SNL hosting stint: ‘We were in a couple sketches together and got along like a house on fire, and she said, “Will you please be in my movie? Please be in my movie.”

‘You know, nobody knew it was gonna be the global success that it was. But I knew it would be funny. And especially with that cast, you know, I was like, “Sure, of course. Are you kidding me? Thank you for asking. Of course I’ll do that.”
