Bollywood actress, Kajol is married to the love of her life, Ajay Devgn. The madly-in-love couple is blessed with two kids, Nysa Devgan and Yug Devgan. However, being an extrovert, Kajol keeps talking about the dynamics of her relationship with her mother-in-law, Veena Devgan. She also recalled how her mother-in-law reacted when her friends asked her why her daughter-in-law doesn’t call her mom. This speaks volumes about Kajol and Veena’s bond.
Kajol once talked about a sassy reply from Veena Devgn, which touched her soul
We stumbled upon a small clip featuring Kajol from her conversation with Twinkle Khanna for her Tweak India channel. In the video, Kajol was heard recalling how once her mother-in-law, Veena Devgan’s reply to her friends had touched the actress. Kajol recalled that her mother-in-law’s friends used to question her for the reason why the actress does not call her ‘maa’. To this, Veena proudly answered that her daughter-in-law would call her ‘maa’ when it would come from her heart. Sharing how fortunate she is to have such a MIL, Kajol recalled:
“Fortunately for me, my mother-in-law has given me the time and space. I know for a fact that we used to sit and her friends would come over. Her friends would be like, ‘Arre, woh tumhe mummy nahi bulati hai? Maa nahi bulati hai?’ And my mother-in-law would turn around very proudly and say that, ‘Woh jab maa bolegi na, dil se niklega, dimaag se nahi niklega’. And I was just like I was so heartened and I was so touched that she’s giving me that time to grow into whoever I’m supposed to be.”

Netizens reaction to Kajol’s revelation regarding her mother-in-law
As soon as the video was posted online, netizens started reacting to the same. While some supported Kajol and Veena and mentioned that such things can only come out from the heart otherwise there is no need to do so, many others also posted mean comments against the actress. One such comment can be read as “U need time and space to call a mother figure as Ma??”

Kajol’s sweet birthday wish for her mother-in-law
Kajol and her mother-in-law, Veena Devgn, share a beautiful bond, and proof of the same is often found. For instance, on February 19, 2021, Kajol wished her mother-in-law, Veena, on her birthday with an emotional post on her IG handle. The actress shared a selfie with her mother-in-law, and called her saasu maa her ‘partner in crime’. Moreover, the doting bahu prayed for her good health and happiness. She penned:
“Happy birthday to my partner in crime and crab for the last 22 years. Aapki hansi kabhi kam na ho #motherbylaw #mominspirit.”

Kajol once revealed how her mother-in-law encouraged her to resume work after Nysa’s birth
In another interview with Mid-Day, Kajol also opened up about the support she received from her mother-in-law, Veena Devgn. The actress revealed that it was her mother-in-law who initially encouraged her to resume her film work after she gave birth to her first child, Nysa Devgn. Kajol added that it was only because of her mother-in-law’s unconditional support that she could show excellence in her field of work. Further, elaborating more about it, Kajol said:
“I have the most amazing family, who supports me beautifully. In fact, my mother-in-law was one of the first people to tell me that I should start working after Nysa was born. They said, don’t worry about her and we are there for you. My husband adjusts his schedule according to me. So, if I have an outdoor shoot, he makes sure that he doesn’t have one and vice versa, you know we do that for each other.”
