Ariana Grande confirms that Penn Badgley stars in her upcoming music video for This Boy Is Mine while promoting new album Eternal Sunshine on NBC talk show

Ariana Grande confirmed that Penn Badgley stars in her upcoming music video on Thursday while promoting her new album Eternal Sunshine.

The 30-year-old pop star during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was asked by Jimmy, 49, about rumors he heard of cameos in the music video for The Boy Is Mine.

‘Yes. Definitely. Yeah, there are a couple little things,’ Ariana teased while wearing a little black dress with white heels.

‘The video stars Penn Badgley, who I’ve been a fan of my entire life. So it was just so amazing to work with him. I am such a fan. It was so fun,’ she revealed.

‘He’s a good guy,’ Jimmy said of Penn, 37, who has starred in the teen drama series Gossip Girl and the Netflix thriller series You.

‘Yes. Super honored to have him,’ Ariana said.

Ariana later performed The Boy Is Mine for the first time on live television wearing a lacy black face mask.

The Boy Is Mine music video featuring Penn is scheduled to be released on Friday.

Ariana posted a TikTok video on Monday that showed Penn dancing awkwardly to the chorus of The Boy Is Mine.

The Grammy-winning singer announced last month that the music video for The Boy Is Mine would be released on June 7 and directed by Christian Breslauer, who also worked on the music videos for her songs ‘Yes, And?’ and ‘We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)’ from Eternal Sunshine.

Ariana first performed The Boy Is Mine publicly at the 2024 Met Gala.

Her appearance on the NBC talk show was her first late night interview since 2021 and it was her 11th time on The Tonight Show.

Ariana also promoted her upcoming musical fantasy film Wicked that is scheduled for release on November 27, 2024.

She portrays Galinda Upland and her boyfriend Ethan Slater, 32, also stars in Wicked as Boq, a Munchkin in love with Galinda.

The One Last Time singer revealed that she wasn’t planning on working on an album until after Wicked, but the 2023 Hollywood strikes changed her plans.

Ariana shared that she spent time with family and then booked a recording studio for a week and asked Swedish record producer Max Martin, 53, to work with her.

‘And we had this week in the studio. It was just the two of us. And by the end of the week, we had, you know, five songs that are on this album. And he was like, ”Just keep going, and I’ll come back in a a month.” And it just came out that way,’ Ariana said.

Eternal Sunshine was released in March by Republic Records.
