Daniel Craig has long hair as he is seen in the first photos from Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery which also stars Jeremy Renner and Mila Kunis

The first photos for the third Knives Out film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, featuring Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc have dropped. 

The British actor, 56, donned his bespoke suit to take on the eccentric character once more. 

The Netflix production started principal photography on Monday and director Rian Johnson gushed about the cast he has assembled for the film.

‘We’ve been very lucky with each of these movies to have gathered some of my favorite actors on the planet, and that’s absolutely the case here,’ he said referring to Craig as well as other stars including Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis and Josh Brolin.

‘They’re also all lovely folks who get along, which is the dinner party aspect of it. When you’re making an ensemble movie like this I think that’s key.’

The cast also includes Adam Scott, Glenn Close, Kerry Washington and Josh O’Connor.

Renner takes on a whole part in the third film. He appeared in the second film in the form of a bottle of ‘Renning Hot’ habanero chili pepper sauce.

He took that joke in stride and Johnson was thrilled to get the chance to work with him. 

‘Jeremy’s a great actor who I’ve wanted to work with for a long time,’ Rian told Netflix’s Tudum.

‘I was very relieved he thought the hot sauce thing was funny! He’s playing a proper part in this one, we’ll keep the sauce off screen. Maybe we’ll sneak a few bottles onto the catering table.’

Details of the mystery Blanc will be tasked with solving are being kept tight under wraps.

In the brief teaser trailer the narrator simply promises it is his ‘most dangerous case yet.’

The first Knives Out drew its title from a Radiohead song, the second from a Beatles tune.

The third film’s title comes from a 1997 U2 song, Wake Up Dead Man, off the album Pop. 

Johnson previously gave Knives Out fans a taste of what to expect in the latest whodunnit.

He posted on X (formerly Twitter): ‘I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is. 

There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie, and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.

‘We’re about to go into production on the 3rd one, and I’m very, very excited to share the title, which gives a little hint of where it’s going. (sic)’
