Sophie’s new album to be unveiled posthumously, relatives announces

Sophie will launch a new album a few years immediately after her demise, her relatives has declared.

The musician’s brother and collaborator, Ben Prolonged, discovered the tracks have been practically done at the time of her 2021 dying and have been “lovingly finalised by people who maintain her closest”.

The Grammy-nominated Scottish DJ, producer and recording artist, who experienced labored with the likes of Madonna and Charli XCX, died at the age of 34 pursuing an accidental slide in the Greek funds of Athens.

The household claimed the self-titled album would be the “final” launch from the avant-pop artist, whose whole identify is Sophie Xeon, and is due out on September 27.

It characteristics “her most cherished collaborators”, with the 1st single from the new album currently being a collaboration with BC Kingdom and Kim Petras, called Purpose Why.

“When we, Sophie’s relatives, took our very first methods in the direction of bringing this project to fruition we contacted the dear good friends with whom she envisioned the album,” the relatives said in a statement produced on Monday.

“We wrote, ‘We have been discovering comfort in the new music Sophie remaining us, it is a gift that we definitely cherish as we test to find a way ahead, with Sophie endlessly at the centre of our worlds.'”

The album will tell her everyday living story and seize her musical journey the relatives claimed.

“Sophie didn’t typically talk publicly of her non-public everyday living, preferring to set almost everything she desired to articulate in her tunes,” they claimed.

“It feels only right to share with the world the songs she hoped to release, in the belief that we can all join with her in this, the form she cherished most.

“Sophie gave all of herself to her tunes. It can be here that she can often be observed.”

Sophie, who was born in Glasgow, commenced releasing audio in 2013 and has labored with Vince Staples as properly as Diplo, Camila Cabello and Petras.
